Calculator methodology

How the personalized student ID value estimate works

The calculator is rule-based, privacy-conscious, and tied to the same official-source evidence used by the verified SBI catalog.

Inputs

Minimum information first

The calculator starts with country, education level, and a broad field of study. School selection is optional. Public university choices appear only when SBI has enough current official-source coverage for a publication-ready university profile. Additional institution requirements attached to individual benefits remain evidence-gated even when a school does not yet have a public university page.

It does not ask for Social Security numbers, tax IDs, government IDs, exact income, immigration documents, medical information, ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, or an exact home address.

Eligibility

Traceable rules, not an AI eligibility score

Country matching uses structured benefit-country records. Education-level matching uses conservative rules tied to verified provider eligibility text. Major selection changes relevance, but it does not remove general student benefits. Institution-specific matches require structured SBI evidence backed by an official source.

Results are labeled Likely eligible, Possibly eligible, Additional verification required, or Likely not eligible. A provider or institution remains the final authority on whether a student can claim an offer.

University intelligence

School-specific value is additive and deduplicated

When a publication-ready university is selected, SBI can add verified campus-linked benefits to the general calculator result. Canonical benefit records are deduplicated so the same benefit is not counted twice simply because it appears in both the general catalog and a university mapping.

Schools that do not yet meet the university publication threshold remain out of the public school selector instead of being bulk-generated or guessed.

Value

Different kinds of value stay separate

The practical headline includes only benefits tagged as defensible practical first-year value. Aid and tax programs, founder or startup ceilings, competitive prizes, and benefits without a defensible money amount are reported separately and are never added into the practical total.

SBI does not convert currencies in this calculator. Provider-listed USD, EUR, GBP, AED, SAR, and other currencies remain separate. A quantified row without a verified currency is excluded from money totals rather than guessed to be USD. Ranking never compares raw amounts across different currencies.

Evidence and freshness

Only active verified catalog records are matched

Expired, archived, pending, and rejected benefits are excluded. Each result links to its benefit detail page, current verification date, and official source. If a requirement such as a participating institution or school email is not fully structured, the calculator moves the result into a verification-required state instead of asserting eligibility.

Neutrality

Affiliate relationships do not change the result

Affiliate availability is not used for eligibility, confidence, value, inclusion, or ranking. Monetized claim destinations remain separately disclosed where they exist.

Privacy and analytics

Your selections are not sent as analytics dimensions

The calculator records coarse funnel events such as starting, selecting a step, completing the calculator, opening a matched benefit, and saving a result to the local wallet. The selected country, education level, major, and institution are not included in those event payloads.

Use the estimate as a discovery tool, not a guarantee.

Always confirm current eligibility, price, renewal, application, and expiration terms on the linked official source before acting.
